Your domain belongs to you. If you decide to move it to another registrar, we make the exit clean and quick. Follow this checklist to avoid downtime during the move.
Before You Start
- Check eligibility. A domain cannot transfer within 60 days of initial registration or a previous transfer, and some extensions add their own rules. Also make sure the domain is not expired; transferring an expired domain can be complicated and sometimes costlier than renewing first.
- Verify your contact email. Transfer approval messages go to the registrant email. Confirm it is correct in the client area and that you can receive mail on it.
- Record your DNS zone. Take screenshots or export all records: A, CNAME, MX, TXT and SPF entries. If nameservers change during the move, you will need to recreate these at the new provider. Missing MX records mean broken email.
The Transfer Steps
- Log in to app.techguru.co.in, open Domains, select the domain and choose the management page.
- Disable the registrar lock, shown as clientTransferProhibited in WHOIS.
- Disable ID Protection temporarily if the new registrar needs to see the registrant email.
- Request the EPP code, also called the auth code or transfer secret. It arrives by email or displays on screen.
- Start the transfer at the gaining registrar and enter the EPP code there.
- Approve the confirmation email quickly. Transfers complete faster with explicit approval; otherwise they auto complete in about five days.
After the Transfer
- Most transfers add one year of registration to the existing expiry, so you rarely lose paid time.
- Reconfigure DNS at the new provider immediately if it did not carry over.
- Your hosting, email plans and other services with us continue unaffected; only registrar management moves.
