Before you start
- The domain must be 60+ days old (or 60+ days since its last transfer) — ICANN rule.
- Registrant email must be accessible — approval mails go there.
- Renew first if it expires within 2 weeks; transferring a nearly-expired domain is risky.
Transfer steps
- At your current registrar: unlock the domain and disable WHOIS privacy temporarily.
- Request the EPP / Authorisation code from the current registrar.
- In our portal: Store → Transfer Domains to Us, enter the domain + EPP code, and check out.
- Approve the confirmation email sent to the registrant address.
- Transfer completes in 5–7 days (instantly if the losing registrar releases early). Most TLDs add 1 year renewal on transfer.
Troubleshooting
- "Invalid auth code" — regenerate the EPP at the old registrar; codes expire.
- Stuck at pending — check the registrant inbox/spam for the approval email; ask the old registrar to approve the outbound transfer manually.
- Domain locked — some registrars apply a 60-day lock after contact changes; wait it out or ask them to lift it.
- Website downtime worry — transfers do not change DNS. Keep the existing nameservers and your site stays up throughout.
