Fixing Common Domain Issues — Suspended, ClientHold and Verification Print

  • 0

My Website Suddenly Stopped Working

If your site and email died without warning, check the domain before blaming hosting. Look up the domain in a WHOIS tool and read the status codes. The most common culprits are below.

Status: clientHold or serverHold

A hold status means the registry has removed the domain from DNS. The domain exists but does not resolve anywhere. Typical reasons:

  • Unverified registrant email. The most frequent cause. Policy requires new registrants and changed contacts to verify their email within 15 days. Miss it and the domain is suspended.
  • Expiry. The domain lapsed and entered a hold state pending renewal.
  • Abuse or dispute. Complaints about phishing, spam or trademark disputes can trigger holds.

The Verification Email

After registering a domain or updating the registrant name or email, watch for a verification message sent to the registrant address. It contains a confirmation link. Click it promptly. If you cannot find it:

  1. Search spam and promotions folders for the word verification together with your domain name.
  2. Log in to app.techguru.co.in, open the domain, and confirm the registrant email is correct.
  3. Open a support ticket asking us to resend the verification email.

Once verified, suspended domains normally start resolving again within a few hours.

Other Statuses You May See

  • clientTransferProhibited. Normal and healthy. It is the transfer lock protecting your domain from hijacking.
  • redemptionPeriod. The domain expired and now needs a paid restoration. Contact us urgently.
  • pendingDelete. The domain is days away from public release. Recovery is no longer possible; you must try to re-register it the moment it drops.

Prevention Checklist

Keep the registrant email on a domain you do not host yourself, verify promptly after any contact change, enable auto renewal, and review domain statuses in the client area every quarter.
