For most Indian small businesses, the Google Business Profile is the single highest impact free marketing asset you own. When someone searches for your service plus a locality, the map pack appears above normal results, and a well maintained profile is what gets you into it.
Set up the essentials first
- Claim and verify your profile at business.google.com. Verification is usually by postcard, phone or video.
- Use your exact legal or trading name. Do not stuff keywords into the business name field, as Google can suspend profiles for this.
- Choose one precise primary category, then add secondary categories.
- Add your full address with PIN code, service areas, phone number and website. Keep these identical to what appears on your website footer.
- Set accurate opening hours, including special hours for festivals and public holidays.
Ongoing optimisation checklist
- Photos: upload at least 10 real photos of your premises, team and work. Add new ones monthly.
- Reviews: ask every happy customer for a review. Reply to all reviews within 48 hours, including negative ones, politely and factually.
- Posts: publish a short update or offer every week. Our SocialBee tool can remind you and recycle content.
- Q and A: seed common questions yourself, such as parking, payment modes and GST invoicing, and answer them.
