Interview Preparation — From Application to Offer Print

  • 0

An interview call means your CV worked; now preparation decides the outcome. Whether the role came through a job alert or Quick Apply on Urgent Hiring, the same disciplined approach applies from screening call to offer letter.

Before the interview

  1. Research the company: its products, clients, recent news and office locations. Ten minutes on the company website and LinkedIn separates you from most candidates.
  2. Re-read the job description: prepare one example from your experience for each listed requirement.
  3. Prepare your stories: use a simple structure: situation, action, result. Have five ready: a success, a failure you fixed, a conflict handled, a deadline met, a process improved.
  4. Verify logistics: for in-person interviews, plan to arrive fifteen minutes early. For video calls, test your camera, microphone and internet, and sit somewhere quiet with good light.

During the interview

  • Answer the screening basics crisply: current salary, expected salary, notice period. Hesitation here reads as unpreparedness.
  • Use numbers when describing achievements; they anchor your value.
  • If you do not know something, say so and explain how you would find out. Bluffing is usually detected.
  • Ask two or three genuine questions: team structure, success measures for the role, next steps. It signals seriousness.

After the interview

Send a short thank-you message the same day, restating your interest. If you were promised feedback by a date, follow up politely one working day after it passes. Track every application and interview stage in your Urgent Hiring account so nothing slips.

Handling the offer

Get the offer in writing before resigning. Check designation, CTC breakup, joining date and probation terms. If details differ from the discussion, clarify by email. Genuine recruiters never ask for money at any stage; treat any such demand as a scam and report it.
