Improving Lead Quality from Ad Campaigns Print

  • 0

Plenty of leads, few real customers: a frustration every Indian SMB running ads eventually meets. Junk enquiries waste sales time and hide true campaign performance. Lead quality can be engineered, and here is how we do it.

Fix targeting first

  • Tighten locations: exclude cities you do not serve, and bid higher in your best pin codes.
  • Add negative keywords such as free, jobs, internship, course and competitor bargain terms.
  • Schedule ads for hours when your team can respond; a lead called within five minutes converts many times better than one called next day.
  • On Meta, exclude engagers who repeatedly click but never convert, and suppress existing customers from acquisition campaigns.

Qualify inside the ad and form

  1. State prices or starting rates in the ad copy. Interiors from Rs 3 Lakh filters out mismatched budgets before the click.
  2. Add one qualifying question to forms: budget range, city, or timeline. Slight friction improves quality more than it reduces volume.
  3. Prefer forms on your own landing page over instant forms when quality matters; instant forms produce volume but attract casual submissions.

Feed outcomes back to the platforms

The biggest unlock: tell Google and Meta which leads became customers. Using offline conversion imports or CRM integration, we upload qualified and closed outcomes so the algorithms optimise for buyers, not form fillers. Accounts using this typically see quality improve within one to two months.

Measure quality, not just cost per lead

Your monthly report tracks qualified lead rate and cost per qualified lead alongside raw numbers. A campaign producing leads at Rs 400 with 60 percent quality beats one at Rs 250 with 15 percent quality, and the report makes that visible.

Sales process matters too

Fast follow-up, WhatsApp confirmation and a simple CRM discipline routinely double conversion from the same leads. We advise on this as part of the engagement.
