SEO Myths That Waste Your Money Print

  • 0

Indian SMB owners hear a lot of confident SEO advice, and much of it is outdated or simply wrong. Believing these myths costs real money. Here are the ones we correct most often at Lookup Marketing.

Myth 1: Guaranteed number one rankings

Nobody controls Google. Any agency guaranteeing the top position is either targeting keywords nobody searches or planning to disappear before renewal. Honest SEO promises a process and measurable improvement, not a fixed rank.

Myth 2: SEO is a one-time job

Competitors publish content, Google updates its algorithms, and your own site changes. Rankings earned once will erode without maintenance. Treat SEO like accounting: an ongoing function, not a festival purchase.

Myth 3: More keywords stuffed on a page means better ranking

Keyword stuffing stopped working years ago and now actively hurts. Google rewards pages that satisfy the searcher, written in natural language.

Myth 4: Cheap bulk backlinks are a shortcut

Packages offering thousands of links for Rs 5,000 come from spam networks. Best case they do nothing; worst case they earn a penalty that takes months to clean up at far greater cost.

Myth 5: SEO results come in two weeks

Realistic timelines for competitive Indian markets run three to six months for meaningful movement. Anyone promising faster is measuring something meaningless.

Myth 6: Traffic is the goal

Ten thousand visitors who never enquire are worth less than two hundred who call. Judge SEO by leads, sales and revenue, which is exactly what our monthly reports measure.

Myth 7: Social media likes improve rankings

Likes and followers are not direct ranking factors. Social has its own value, but do not buy followers expecting Google rankings to move.
