What Remote Viewing Gives You

How It Works
The recorder or cameras connect to your internet connection. Most business installations use the manufacturer cloud P2P service, which lets the app reach your recorder without complex router configuration and works even when your ISP does not give you a static IP address. For clients with stricter policies, we configure VPN based access instead, keeping the video system entirely off the public internet.
Security Matters More Than Convenience
An internet reachable camera system configured badly is a liability. Our standard hardening checklist includes:
- Changing every default password on recorders and cameras
- Creating separate user accounts with limited rights for staff, so operators can view but not delete footage
- Updating firmware to close known vulnerabilities
- Disabling unused services such as Telnet and UPnP
- Placing cameras on a separate network segment from your business data where feasible
Bandwidth Considerations
Remote live view uses a lower bitrate substream, so even a modest broadband connection handles a few simultaneous viewers. If many managers will watch many cameras, we plan upload bandwidth accordingly and can suggest suitable business broadband options.
