What DAS Is
Direct Attached Storage is storage connected directly to a single server without a network in between - internal drives, external disk shelves linked by SAS cables, or NVMe devices inside the chassis. Because there is no network hop, DAS delivers the lowest latency and the simplest management of any storage architecture, at the lowest cost per terabyte.
