Basic spam filtering catches the obvious junk. Advanced configuration is what stops the dangerous remainder — fake invoices, director impersonation and phishing links that basic filters let through. This guide covers the settings that matter in the cloud email spam filtering service from Tech Guru Club.
How the filtering layer sits
Your MX records point to our filtering cloud instead of directly to your mail server. Every message is scanned, scored and cleaned there, and only legitimate mail is delivered onward. Your mail platform — Workspace, 365, Zoho, OX or Rediffmail Pro — stays unchanged behind it. MX changes are configured free for domains on our DNS.
Settings worth tuning
- Spam sensitivity — start at the default level; raise it only if junk still arrives, since very high settings quarantine more borderline mail.
- Quarantine digest — schedule a daily summary email listing held messages, so staff can release a wrongly held message themselves in one click.
- Allow and block lists — allow-list critical senders such as banks, government portals and key clients; block persistent nuisance domains outright.
- Attachment rules — block executable attachments entirely; no genuine business partner sends .exe files.
- Impersonation protection — enable display-name checks that flag outside mail pretending to be your own directors or domain.
Protect your outgoing reputation too
- Publish SPF listing your legitimate sending servers.
- Sign mail with DKIM so tampering is detectable.
- Add a DMARC policy, starting with monitoring mode, and tighten it once reports look clean.
These three records dramatically reduce the chance of your own domain being spoofed in attacks on your customers.
