Hosting providers keep server backups for disasters on their side, not for the day you delete the wrong folder or a plugin update breaks your site. CodeGuard, provisioned through Tech Guru Club, gives your website its own independent, automated daily backup with one-click restore.
What CodeGuard does
- Connects to your site over SFTP or FTP and takes a complete initial backup of files and databases.
- Checks daily for changes and backs up only what changed, keeping backups fast and storage efficient.
- Emails you a change summary — an early warning when files change unexpectedly, which can indicate a hack.
- Lets you restore a single file, the database, or the entire site to any stored point in time.
Setting it up
- Order a CodeGuard plan from the client portal at app.techguru.co.in, sized by your total site size.
- Add your website in the CodeGuard dashboard using your SFTP hostname, username and password. SFTP is preferred over plain FTP.
- Add your database with its host, name and credentials so orders and content are captured, not just files.
- Select the folders to include and start the initial backup. Large sites may take a few hours the first time.
- Confirm the daily schedule and enable email notifications.
Restore in three clicks
When something breaks, open the dashboard, pick a backup dated before the problem, and choose automatic restore. Most sites are back within minutes. You can also download a zip of any backup for local safekeeping.
Good practice
Test a restore once a quarter, and update stored credentials in CodeGuard whenever you change hosting passwords. If you would like our team to configure everything for you, raise a support ticket after ordering and we will complete the setup the same day.
