The UDR102 desktop tagging station is where inventory enters the TrueStock world. If tagging at inward is disciplined, everything downstream, from gate alarms to variance reports, becomes trustworthy. This article helps you design that workflow.
Recommended station setup
- Place the UDR102 on a sturdy desk at the receiving area, connected to the tagging PC or laptop with the TrueStock client open.
- Keep rolls of ALN-9662 UHF labels within reach, ideally in a dust free drawer.
- Mark a one metre clear zone around the reader so stray tagged items nearby do not get read accidentally.
The standard inward flow
- Goods arrive and are checked against the purchase order or challan as usual.
- The operator selects the inward document in TrueStock, which lists expected items.
- For each unit or carton, the operator prints or picks an ALN-9662 label, places it on the UDR102 to encode it against the item record, and sticks it on the product.
- TrueStock ticks off each tagged unit against the expected quantity in real time.
- When counts match, the operator closes the inward, and stock instantly appears in the dashboard and syncs to your accounting software.
Decisions to make early
- Unit level or carton level tagging: high value items deserve one tag per piece, while fast moving low value goods are often tagged per carton.
- Label placement rule: pick one consistent spot, such as the top right of the carton, and train everyone to follow it. Consistency improves gate read rates.
- Exception handling: define what happens with damaged goods, short supply and returns, so operators never invent their own process.
